Impact Drivers For Outdoor Shed Building - A Smart Choice
Tons of homeowners relish in doing their own projects for saving money and enjoyment. On the other hand, the proper tools are needed or the projects are no fun at all.
Having moved into a new house, there were a couple of "excuses" for constructing a new outside storage shed. Hold it, that would actually be three reasons.
The first reason was the wife. She was not happy about the way all my "stuff" was "stuffed into our garage. There was not room enough for even one car. We simply had to get more space. It would prove to be a very valuable investment if our relationship was saved.
The next reason was really important to me. I couldn't find anything because of the way it was jammed in that small space. Hunting for the right tools and supplies was taking too much time and taking all the enjoyment out of the projects. There was just no room to organize.
Most importantly, though, I wanted a new cordless impact driver. Word has it that they are the best thing since baked bread, at least in the DIY arena. Tools are an obsession with me as they are with many DIYers. Creating jobs just to purchase a new tool is not above me. Because of the new outside storage shed, I had a reason to get the impact driver of my dreams.
Creating a list of materials is invariably the first order of business when I start a new undertaking. I did not hesitate. I put that DeWalt DCF815S2 12-volt impact driver right at the top of the list. I figured that it would be a reasonably easy chore to get this acquistion approved by my financial manager (my wife), since it would cut down on the time to build the shed considerably. Another reason is my age. The savings of physical stress on my body is one more benefit that makes this a wise choice. Impact drivers are far easier on the arm than regular drills.
After completing the list, my next task was to get my wife's OK. Of course, she balked when she saw the tool at the top of the list, a bit more pricey than the new cordless drill I had to have for a past DIY event. The tool was practically in the bag when I explained the "health reasons" for making the purchase.
The tool ended up being far better than I was lead to believe. After a day, or days, of driving long screws and lag bolts, my arm did not feel the effects of the physical labor at all. The impact driver is much lighter than my cordless drill, too. If you have an impact driver, I'm guessing it is your favorite, as it is mine. Now, I look for new jobs to do with the impact driver because it is so much fun.
The outside shed has been a very practical project that is paying off in space and saving our relationship, but the impact driver is paying off too.
